Cyber/ICT security conferen­ces

The annual OSCE-wide Conference on Cyber/ICT Security is an opportunity for stakeholders in this field to exchange international experience, discuss the risks and threats to security affecting cyberspace and how to develop co-operative responses to those challenges. It also is a platform for participants to review the Organization’s set of Confidence-Building Measures, designed in the early 2010s to reduce the risk of conflict stemming from the misuse of cyberspace, complementing the United Nations framework for responsible state behaviour in cyberspace.

The Conference typically gathers senior governmental experts, representatives of state agencies and cyber policymakers. Discussions focus on different aspects of cyber security, including cyber resilience, artificial intelligence, mis- and disinformation in cyberspace, and the use of the internet for terrorist purposes. Aside from discussing the associated vulnerabilities and risks, participants also regularly highlight the efforts of the OSCE and participating States to counter them within the framework of their commitments to freedom of expression and media freedom.

In addition to the annual OSCE-wide Conference, participating States and Partners for Co-operation also meet occasionally for inter-regional conferences to discuss ICT/cyber security-related issues.
