WARSAW, 6 October 2025 – As the OSCE marks the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act, we must recommit to the principles of democracy, human rights and the rule of law on which the organisation was founded in order to overcome global challenges, OSCE leaders said today as governments, international organizations, and civil society came together for a 10-day conference dedicated to the situation of human rights and fundamental freedoms across the OSCE area.

HELSINKI, 2 October 2025- The annual Chairpersonship Conference, Resilient Cyberspace: Principles, Partnerships, and the Path Ahead, took place in Helsinki from 30 September to 2 October 2025.

ERGNETI, 30 September 2025- The 127th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place today in Ergneti. The meeting was co-facilitated by Tibor Kozma, Deputy Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Christoph Späti, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.

A joint meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation (FSC) and the OSCE Permanent Council was held on 24 September, under Finland’s dual role as 2025 OSCE Chairpersonship and Chair of the FSC. Finland placed the “Violation of Estonian airspace by the Russian Federation on 19 September 2025” on the agenda of the meeting.

The OSCE Month of Borders was launched in September with a series of high-level events to mark 20 years since the adoption of the OSCE Border Security and Management Concept (BSM Concept) by the OSCE Ministerial Council in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2005.

VIENNA/HELSINKI, 18 September 2025- The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Special Envoy, Ambassador Terhi Hakala, has concluded her official visit to Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The aim of the visit was to strengthen OSCE partnerships in the region.

Anu Juvonen, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Special Representative on Civil Society, concluded a visit to Georgia. During her visit from 7 to 11 September, Juvonen met with government officials, civil society representatives, and members of the diplomatic community to assess the state of civic space in Georgia.
