YEREVAN, 15 October 2026 – The OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis concluded his official visit to Armenia today, following a series of high-level meetings focused on regional developments, co-operation, connectivity and efforts to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.

During the visit, Chairman-in-Office Cassis met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan. Discussions focused on the OSCE’s long-standing partnership with Armenia and opportunities to further strengthen co-operation across all three dimensions of security.

“The value of the OSCE is precisely that it keeps everyone around the same table — even when positions are fundamentally different. In difficult times, dialogue is not a sign of weakness; it is a necessary condition for reducing tensions, rebuilding trust and finding a way forward,” said Chairman-in-Office Cassis.

He also underlined the benefits that the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan would bring to the broader region.  Chairman-in-Office Cassis reiterated the importance of continued dialogue and constructive engagement in fostering stability and co-operation in the South Caucasus and beyond.

The visit to Armenia marks the second leg of the Chairman-in-Office's regional outreach to the South Caucasus and Central Asia. He will continue his visit to Georgia tomorrow and has visited Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan this summer.
