Young Journalist Safety Camp – Building Resilience, Ethics and Impact in Journalism
In North Macedonia’s evolving media landscape, journalists continue to face disinformation, targeted smear campaigns, online threats, and political pressure. To address these challenges and strengthen the role of independent media, the OSCE Mission to Skopje and the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM) have teamed up for the fourth year in a row to run the Young Journalist Safety Camp. Participants learned how to protect themselves online and report on sensitive issues such as corruption, crime, and institutional accountability in a responsible and ethical way. A strong focus was placed on handling SLAPP lawsuits and defending freedom of expression. The activity reflects the Mission’s ongoing support for media freedom and journalist safety, with a strong emphasis on youth empowerment and institution-building.
