Overview
Launched on 7 December 2021, the OSCE Networking Platform for Women Leaders including Peacebuilders and Mediators brings together women from across the OSCE region who are engaged in peacebuilding, mediation, conflict prevention and reconciliation. The Platform was created to help address the continued underrepresentation of women in decision-making and the disproportionate impact they face in conflict settings.
It provides a safe and inclusive space for women leaders to learn, connect and exchange experiences, strengthening their ability to participate meaningfully in peace processes at all levels. By fostering dialogue, peer support and collaboration, the Platform contributes to more inclusive and sustainable peacebuilding efforts across the OSCE region.
Under its umbrella, and through the support of the WIN project, the OSCE has launched dedicated initiatives such as the Women Peace Leadership Programme and the Young Women for Peace Initiative, which further enhance leadership skills, expand networks and support women’s engagement in peace and security; as well as a network of women of Ukraine, supporting women leaders from Ukraine responding to the humanitarian crisis, promoting peer-to-peer exchanges, sharing of experiences in recovery and reconstruction, fostering solidarity, practical co-operation and mutual learning among women leaders navigating similar challenges.
The Platform continues to grow as a regional network that empowers women leaders to contribute to peace, resilience and recovery in their communities. Continued support remains essential to ensuring women’s full, equal and meaningful participation in peace and security efforts.
